Youth and Teens

For every youth in a treatment program for substance abuse, it is estimated that four more are left untreated.

Parents face a difficult challenge in raising children in a society where alcohol and drug use is so prevalent. The Phoenix Center offers a combination of individual, group and family counseling, as well as alternative activities to interrupt the downward spiral of substance abuse in adolescents and the fallout effects it has on families. Services are provided by Certified Addiction Counselors with the highest level of confidentiality. Youth services are separated from adult recovery programs.

Background

According to the SC Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services, over 5,300 youth between the ages of 12 and 17 are in need of substance abuse treatment in Greenville County. Changes in sleep and eating patterns can be a warning sign for substance abuse. Loss of temper, being evasive when questioned, and excessive forgetfulness are also warning signs for drug use.
