Divorce
Divorce is a time of transition. Because of the tremendous changes in the family that occur as a result of divorce, both parents and children are likely to experience unanticipated problems, stress related illnesses, and feelings of failure, helplessness and confusion.
Children in particular have difficulty in adjusting and often assume the blame for their parents' divorce. Behavior problems, declining school performance, and emotional problems frequently result. The negative effects of divorce can be less traumatic for all concerned if issues are faced and dealt with in a positive manner.
The Phoenix Center offers a course called "Children in the Middle" (CIM) - formerly known as PACT (Parent and Child Transitions). The purpose of Children in the Middle is to provide the opportunity for the issues associated with divorce to be dealt with.
Children in the Middle is...
...a four week course offering education and understanding about how the divorce experience relates to parenting. The information you will gain during each weekly, two hour class will help you prepare to rebuild your life as a more knowledgeable and cooperative ex-spouse and a better parent.
As the custodial or non-custodial parent, you will be offered understanding and help in finding the path to stability that will benefit both you and your children.

"I feel we had a very good class that was worth the time and expense. I am always into learning more to help my family and self. I really did not expect to get anything out of this class, but was completely wrong and now feel that there is a lot more help that I need."
"I really enjoyed the opportunity to find out what worked and what didn't."
"The class was very informative. I walked away feeling I had a better ideal on how to deal with the problems with my ex."
"I found this class to be very helpful. I have learned how to better communicate with my ex and how to keep some order. I feel this class is essential for the parents to help with the time separation."
"Great class, I really feel like I have learned how to communicate better with my child's father and with my children. Thanks for everything."
"I kind of frowned at the beginning about doing this class, because I was told that I needed to. I'm glad that I was able to attend because it reinforced what I was already doing and I learned things that I wasn't doing that I should do. Recommend it to other people."
