Merchant Education/Server Training
The Phoenix Center offers comprehensive Merchant Education to those who sell and serve alcohol in Greenville County. This program enables participants to prevent alcohol sales to minors, recognize signs of intoxication, and intervene with patrons who are already intoxicated. Servers, clerks, and bartenders who are trained in server education will greatly reduce liquor liability exposure, improve customer service, and ensure a safer, healthier Greenville County.
Did you know that violations of SC alcohol/liquor laws can result in a minimum $200.00 fine, 30 days in jail, court costs, mandatory merchant education, liquor license revocation, and/or drivers license suspensions?
Merchant Education through The Phoenix Center offers participants:
- A 3-5 hour training by a certified instructor, either on site or at The Phoenix Center
- A customized program that meets your business needs
- Program materials and manuals for each participants
- Opportunities to meet with Greenville Law Enforcement Officers who will work with you to prevent liquor law violations
- Training on current state laws, fake ID's, and liability issues
- Includes video-scenarios and group interaction
- 1 year Merchant Education certification
Merchant Education can also include:
- A preventing underage tobacco sales component
- Gambling information
- Meth watch materials and training
