New Outlooks Via Awareness (NOVA)
NOVA is a treatment program for clients 18 years of age and up who are most often referred by Probation, Parole or Pardon Services. Clients attend the orientation process which is followed by an assessment. A recommendation for a level of care service (which could include the NOVA curriculum) is made based upon the information gathered at the time of assessment.
The curriculum is an eight week program that meets once per week to address the disease of addiction, identify high risk behaviors and triggers leading to continued use. Each client is also challenged to develop the following:
- an understanding of the disease of addiction
- healthy ways to improve their lifestyle by changing/adjusting social and environmental factors
In addition to weekly attendance, urine drug screens are performed. Notifications are also sent directly to Probation agent's as requested.
Upon successful completion of the program, graduates can expect an exit interview (where a plan is developed to continue care), a graduation ceremony and an open invitation to attend the Alumni Group Meetings at The Phoenix Center.
