Women's Residential - Serenity Place

When substance abuse has escalated into substance dependence, people begin to experience severe problems and serious consequences. Frequently, these individuals have tried outpatient treatment, but have been unable to maintain abstinence.

Women with children face special needs for treatment. For women who are pregnant or parenting, long-term residential treatment services are offered by the Phoenix Center through Serenity Place.

At Serenity Place, space is available for 16 women and 2 children each. Priority is given to admittance for pregnant women. Residential treatment is intensive, for a minimum of 50 hours per week, and daily life is structured with a focus on parenting and positive family and independent living skills. The average length of stay could be as much as 6 months, depending on the severity factors.

Because addiction has damaged most aspects of these families' lives, all aspects must be rebuilt. Serenity Place provides the holistic approach and highly structured environment needed for long-term recovery, a healthy lifestyle, and positive parenting.

Services include medical monitoring by a registered nurse and an on-call physician. While the children of the clients are in residence, they may participate in Therapeutic Child Treatment or attend the local elementary school.
