The Phoenix Center is Trauma Informed!

Trauma Informed Care (TIC)  is an approach that realizes the widespread impact of trauma, and aims at ensuring environments and services are welcoming and engaging for clients and staff.  By recognizing the signs and symptoms of trauma in clients, families, staff, and others involved with the system, it responds by fully integrating knowledge about trauma into policies, procedures, and practices and seeks to actively resist re-traumatization.

We do this by following five core values to help us provide the highest quality of care.

  • SAFETY: Ensuring physical and emotional safety. Common areas are welcoming and privacy is respected.
  • TRUSTWORTHINESS: Maximizing trustworthiness through task clarity, consistency, and interpersonal boundaries.
  • CHOICE: Maximizing consumer choice and control. Individuals are provided a significant role in planning and evaluating services.
  • COLLABORATION: Maximizing collaboration and sharing power. Respectful and professional boundaries are maintained.
  • EMPOWERMENT: Prioritizing consumer empowerment and skill building. Provide an atmosphere that allows individuals to feel validated and affirmed with each and every contact at the agency.
